Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle (2017) dir. Jake Kasdan 

Wait though. I actually really like this scene. And the movie in general. Notice how even though Bethany was stuck as a male game character everyone still referred to her as Bethany and the movie didn’t write in any comedic “slip ups” where they start by calling her “Shelley” or “he” before stumbling into some correction? Notice how even though Alex thought a guy at first was getting flirty with him he didn’t react in disgust or make a face or say anything mildly homohobic. Notice how when Bethany had to kiss Alex to save him the movie didn’t focus on “ha. Its two dudes* kissing”, or try to write in Alex being shocked or dismayed when he woke up (as many other shows and movies have done) but instead showed how thankful and touched Alex was?

This movie had contextual references to queerness and trans-ness, but never used any of it in a gross of disrespectful way. It showed body humor. Body dysphoria. Body EUPHORIA…Hell Bethany actually wound up kinda liking her penis and said “goodbye lil dude”.

Me and my transgender girlfriend both loved this movie and that shows how much effort was taken to keep the writing and humor fun and approachable.
